People are afraid of being alone. Why is that? You can be in a room full of people, in a marriage, or a friendship and still be alone. Being alone is not the same as being lonely. When we spend time alone it is an opportunity to enjoy our own company. The question then becomes, do we like our own company? It is only when we accept and find joy in who and what we are that the fear of being alone dissolves. Being alone is time well spent. It is a time to sort out, refresh, and reboot ourselves. It is a time to be selfish and self-centered. Imagine that, giving ourselves permission to put our own needs and wants first. A wonderful thought that we need to put into practice!

Food for thought on this beautiful Thanksgiving morning. Thanksgiving is traditionally about giving thanks, but why not dig a little deeper. As you are roasting your turkey or sitting with family and friends, be reflective. Think about last year’s Thanksgiving, where you were, who you were with, and what you were going through. Have things changed, have you moved forward? Have you cried more, or laughed more? Being reflective of the details of your life certainly will put a new spin on things. Are you having the Thanksgiving that you want? If not, change it, the day has only begun! The Thanksgiving that we have is a reflection of who and where we are in our lives.

We all get lost, we all lose our perspective, and we all lose our voice at different moments in our lives. This is a natural occurrence and a blessing in disguise. For we can not find our way home, home to our true selves, without the instance of actually being lost. There is divine truth in the saying “you have to lose to know how to win”. You have to be lost, to find your way home! I have certainly been lost, but the power of finding myself has far outweighed any trials that I have gone through to get there! As Thanksgiving approaches, give thanks for being lost!

Why do we hold ourselves back from everything that we want? Is it because we don’t think that we deserve it, or have we been told that we can not do it, or are we afraid of failing? For me, it has been a lifetime of being different and being told that being different was not a good thing. The people who love us, want to protect us, but sometimes that protection comes with a price. Putting limits on ourselves is a habit that we must break free of. Imagine living a life with no limitations! What would you do? Who would you be? It is time for all of us to realize that there are no limitations in this world and we can be whomever we chose to be.

As The Intuitive Cook, one can assume that I love cooking, and I do. Though my deeper passion lies with food! Where it comes from, how it is made, and finally, how it is used and consumed. Food has an energy like all living things and the giving and receiving of this energy is very important. In life, we know that to receive a gift you must give a gift. Apply this concept to food and nature. When we take something from nature, acknowledge it, be thankful, and give something back to it. Whether you feed the birds, provide shelter, or create a compost pile, balancing the giving and receiving in nature is an extraordinary act of energetic gifting!
